PENNSYLVANIA "FIRED UP" FOR MORE WPSL ACTION

Third side joins East's Mid-Atlantic Division as the Inferno will be based in Lancaster

SACRAMENTO, CA (03/14/08) - The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is proud to announce that the Lancaster Inferno women's soccer team has been offered acceptance into the Mid-Atlantic Division of the East Conference for this upcoming Summer 2008 season. The Lancaster Inferno is a brand new women's amateur soccer team based in Lancaster, PA - the third from the "State Of Independence" in the WPSL - and will attract the highest quality female soccer players from multiple counties in and around Central Pennsylvania.

"We have been in contact with the organizers of the Lancaster team for some time and are thrilled to see them finally come into the league," said WPSL Commissioner Jerry Zanelli. "The addition of a quality team like the Inferno demonstrates the league's continued growth on the East Coast and in the Mid-Atlantic Region specifically."

The Lancaster Inferno inaugural team will coached by Doug Harris, Amber Spell and Joe Longenecker and will play its home games at Hempfield High School's new artificial turf complex in East Hempfield Township.

"The quality of women's soccer in this area has been on the rise for quite some time," said Harris. "We are very excited about being able to showcase, all on one team, some of the best female players to ever play in the area. The level of soccer played in the WPSL is the best that our country currently has to offer for women and we are privileged to now be a part of that. Not only will this prove to be a great experience for our players but I do believe that the community will thoroughly enjoy the style and quality of soccer coming to Lancaster."

The Lancaster Inferno continues to receive verbal and written commitments from players around the area. Administrators for the team will be working through the coming months to finalize the roster and other game day details that will be sure to make its inaugural year a success.

The Inferno will be playing home and away matches with each team in the Mid-Atlantic Division and will face some of the best teams in the league including defending 2006 Champion Long Island Fury. In addition to the Fury, the Inferno will play games through the middle of July against A.C. Diablos (NJ), the CDSA Future (DE), Northampton Laurels (PA), the New York Athletic Club (NY), the Philadelphia Liberty (PA) and the Millburn Magic (NJ).

The Lancaster Inferno 12-game 2008 WPSL regular season kicks-off on Saturday, May 18th at home against Millburn. For more information about how to become a team member or a volunteer with the Lancaster Inferno, contact Doug Harris at 717-572-4167 or Steve Klein at 717-214-6895.
